Our Story

Hi! I’m Samara, the founder of Pierogi and Dough.

Back home, handmade dumplings are a staple. You can find them in almost every grocery store in dozens of varieties. They’re a practical solution for busy families—made with simple, wholesome ingredients, frozen fresh, and ready to enjoy in minutes. They’re real homemade food, not fast food.

A few years ago, I was a stay-at-home mom going through postpartum depression. During that time, I deeply missed the comfort foods I grew up eating in Kyrgyzstan (pronounced keer-gih-STAHN).

A family business built around comfort food

I couldn’t find anything like that here, so I started making them myself.

Made the way food should be

Every batch is made by hand using ingredients you’d recognize—no preservatives, no soybean oil, just fresh dough and delicious fillings. We freeze them immediately so you can keep them in your freezer and have a homemade meal whenever life gets busy.

When I first started my business, I sold the dumplings under their traditional Kyrgyz and Russian names. Most people had never heard of them and were hesitant to try them.

Then my mother-in-law tasted them and said, “These remind me of Polish pierogi.” She suggested using the name pierogi instead. That simple change helped people discover what they had been missing.

What makes our food special?

  • Handmade with care in small batches
  • No preservatives and no soybean oil
  • Frozen fresh to lock in flavor and nutrition
  • Ready to enjoy after heating—quick, easy, and still wholesome

Comfort food worth sharing

Today, I’m proud to share the flavors that brought me comfort during one of the hardest seasons of my life. My hope is that they bring comfort, convenience, and joy to your family, too.

Thank you for supporting our small family business.
